This is an undergoing project to build a set of interactive Ice Sculptures for the winter festival Nuit Blanche in Montreal. For this project we’re freezing thousands of 2-litre cartons of juice and milk into ice blocks and assembling pillars from them.
The pillars use waterproof(IP 67) addressable LEDs on driven by an individual Raspberry Pi in each pillar. The Pi’s are also wired to IR sensors that can detect proximity to the pillars. When people are sensed walking by the pillars they light up and output a sound note to a near by winterized speaker.
This project is underway and should be finished by the middle of February.
